Jio crossed 400 million user base in July, inactive users still more than rivals: Trai

Reliance NSE 0.16 % Jio became the first mobile phone operator to cross 400 million subscribers in India, having added an industry leading 3.55 million users in the month of July. But its inactive use base continued to be higher than its rivals Bharti Airtel NSE -2.39 % and Vodafone Idea, according to latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).

In absolute terms, Jio had some 87.8 million inactive users, compared with Airtel’s 9.5 million Vi’s 32.1 million.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has tested positive for Covid-19, he announced on Twitter late on Sunday. “I have tested COVID-19 positive. Asymptomatic. Feeling very much alright,” Das said on the social media platform. He said he had alerted those who came in contact with him in the last few days, and will continue to work from isolation. Work in RBI will go on normally. I am in touch with all Dy. Govs and other officers through VC and telephone,” he added. On Saturday, the leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Devendra Fadnavis said he had tested positive for Covid-19 virus. The financial capital Mumbai has been one of the worst hit in terms of the number of coronavirus infections.
