Worsening air quality harmful for those vulnerable to Covid-19 attack

Northern India, including the National Capital Region (NCR), is in the grip of worsening air pollution amid the Covid-19 pandemic as farmers in nearby states, especially Punjab, are clearing their fields by burning crop residue. Fire counts in most of the districts in Punjab are higher than a year ago, according to data exclusively shared with ET by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

According to experts, the worsening air in and around Delhi is particularly harmful for those suffering from respiratory ailments and could make them more vulnerable to the virus attack.
